Gnocchi
 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup semolina
  • ½ cup gruyere cheese grated
  • 1 t butter salt to taste freshly ground black pepper
    grated cheese and oregano for garnishing

  • Tomato Sauce
  • 500 gms tomatoes
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 T olive oil
  • ½ can tomato soup
  • ½ can tomato puree oregano & salt to taste

 
 

Method

  1. Heat milk and water; just before it starts boiling add in the semolina, cheese, butter and seasonings. Keep aside.
  2. For tomato sauce, scalid, peel and chop tomatoes.
  3. Fry garlic in oil, add the tomatoes. When cooked mash tomatoes well. Add in the rest of the ingredients.
  4. Layer a baking dish with tomato sauce, followed by semolina layer and top up again with the tomato sauce.
  5. Sprinkle cheese and oregano, bake in moderate oven for 20 minutes and serve with herb bread.
